The sun either becomes closer to the earth or further away depending on what time of year it is. In the winter the sun is further away from the region and thus the weather gets cold and the sun is not strong. You can go out in the sun during the winter for many hours and not get sun burned, unless you are at a high altitude where you will be closer to the sun. During the summer the sun gets closer to the earth and the temperature rises and the sun becomes very strong. When the sun is closer to the earth is can tan or burn the skin in quite a hurry. The neat thing about this is that usually when it is hot out and the sun is shining you can prepare, although sometimes there can be some clouds and you think that there is not any sun coming through but there is. The rule to follow to get you the best results that work to keep your body health from the sun is to wear protection from the sun during the summer months. No matter if it is cloudy or not, just put it on. Some off the daily lotions that people use already have protection in them, so this is a big plus. You might want to just make sure and add an extra layer of protection to be on the safe side.
