Last Minute Holiday Tactics

If you are the type of person who enjoys booking last minute holidays you will know that cheaper is often better. The money you spend on the holiday booking and flights, as well as accommodation, can dictate the kind of last minute experience that you have. So getting the financial aspects right can be crucial. Last minute deals do not always come in very cheap, because we have a natural tendency as human beings to want the very best deal, so we aim higher, and try for destinations and experiences that would have cost a lot more when they were full price, and don’t exactly cost peanuts when discounted.

So how do we save money on a last minute deal? First of all think about more than one destination. It is becoming a truism that the best and least expensive holidays take place in locations that we would not normally consider visiting. Bulgaria, for example, has seen an absolute boom time recently. This is because it is not necessarily viewed as a premium holiday location (although that may well change soon), and this means that operators are adjusting their process so that breaks in this part of the world are some of the cheapest around. The country is astonishingly beautiful, but you wouldn’t know that from all of the holiday TV shows showing places like the Gran Canaria, rather than beautiful Bulgaria. Check out many places, and you will soon realise that the best places are those that have been largely short of visitors for the past decade. Beautiful and cost effective.

And check out all of those all inclusive holiday deals that are out there. These may initially seem more expensive, but think about the restaurant prices for the locations you are going to. They can be extremely prohibitive, with many overseas restaurants charging a lot of money for simple meals, because they have the trade captive, so to speak.

Think about the way you spend money. Having the local currency in your wallet is the best way to pay for stuff while on holiday. Using a credit card is the worst. Cash on the day or charges two months down the line. You figure it out. Make sure that you stock up on a decent amount of holiday money, and that it is in the local currency. Don’t worry about losing it, most hotels have safes.

Finally, our last piece of advice here is to book a great last minute UK break. There are hundreds of great places to visit in the UK, and many of them can be found as part of last minute deals on the Internet. You can get a real bargain here, so it is definitely worth investigating. And it is of course at least a third cheaper than travelling abroad.
