Adult Costumes and More: Creating Family Fun All Year round

Posted at August 3, 2008 by admin

Long after the pumpkins are packed away and the scarecrows are turned to mulch, those Halloween costumes are still filled with seasonless fun. While it can be tempting to declutter the house after a holiday, avoid the urge to pack away all those adult costumes and keep them stowed away in your closet for surprise family fun.

Here are a few of our favorite ideas for creating dress up fun for the whole family all year round.

The After Halloween Bash

With most holidays that we celebrate getting at least a month of recognition, Halloween often gets the short end of the stick. Make the magic last all autumn long by hosting weekly “family costume balls”. You don’t have to have a huge soiree. Just a bit of magic, music and the ones you hold close. This idea will be magical for the little ones and it will also help you get your money’s worth out of both your adult costumes and children’s costumes.

The Celebrity Photo Shoot

If you and your children both opted for glitzy costumes this year, use them to create a “mini-red carpet”. Have a friend take photos of you in your glamorous ensembles. It will make the perfect mother/daughter photo opt and you can even create a scrapbook of your “fifteen moments of fame”. (Don’t forget the glitter and ribbons!) This is a simply delightful idea for moms and daughters, allowing them to bond all while having a blast.

The wise family woman knows how to spin great ideas to last all year long. Even when the Halloween season is past, those adult costumes don’t have to go to waste. Family fun can come from anywhere. With just a little imagination, you can keep your family laughing . . . all year round.
